Insulation for Cibolo homes

Why Cibolo attics need attention.

Most of Cibolo's neighborhoods were built in the last twenty-five years, which means many homes have blown-in insulation that was installed at the minimum depth and has settled since. Combined with long Texas summers, that is often not enough to keep second floors and bonus rooms comfortable.

Newer homes usually do not need full removal. In many Cibolo attics we seal air leaks and add insulation to reach a better depth. If we do find damage or contamination, we remove the old material and clean the attic first.

Local energy facts

Insulation levels, rebates and tax credits in Cibolo.

Recommended R-value

Guadalupe County is in IECC climate zone 2A. For zones 2 and 3, ENERGY STAR recommends R-49 for an uninsulated attic and R-38 when you already have 3 to 4 inches. We measure your current depth during the free visit.

Utility rebates

GVEC’s rebate list covers heat pumps, EV chargers, thermostats and batteries, but not attic insulation. If CPS Energy is your electric provider: it pays $0.35 per sq ft for contractor-installed attic insulation on projects completed Feb 1, 2026 to Jan 31, 2027. For attics with more than 24" of clearance, the existing level must be R-14 or less and the final level R-38 or more.

Federal tax credit

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) does not apply to insulation placed in service after December 31, 2025, so don’t plan your budget around it.

Questions

Attic insulation in Cibolo: FAQ

My home is under 20 years old. Do I really need more insulation?

Not always, but many newer homes benefit from added depth. The inspection measures what you have so you can decide with real numbers.

Do you remove the old insulation in newer homes?

Only when it is damaged, wet or contaminated. If it is in good shape, we usually add new insulation on top after sealing air leaks.

Is the attic inspection really free?

Yes. We inspect the attic, show you photos of what we find and give you a written quote. There is no obligation to book.

Do you always remove the old insulation?

No. When the old insulation is contaminated, wet or badly compressed, we remove it, clean and sanitize the attic and seal air leaks first. If it is in good shape, we will tell you whether adding new insulation on top is enough.
