Schertz, TX attic insulation

Attic insulation in Schertz, TX.

Many Schertz homes were built in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, and their original insulation has settled over the years. We replace worn-out attic insulation so your home stays cooler and your AC works less.

Insulation for Schertz homes

Why Schertz attics need attention.

Schertz has grown steadily along the I-35 corridor near JBSA-Randolph, with many two-story homes in established subdivisions. In two-story houses, the upstairs is usually the hardest part of the home to keep cool, and thin or uneven attic insulation is one of the most common reasons.

We check the depth and condition of the insulation, look for gaps around attic access points, ducts and fixtures, and seal air leaks before adding or replacing insulation. You get photos and a clear quote before any work begins.

Local energy facts

Insulation levels, rebates and tax credits in Schertz.

Recommended R-value

Guadalupe, Comal and Bexar Counties are in IECC climate zone 2A. For zones 2 and 3, ENERGY STAR recommends R-49 for an uninsulated attic and R-38 when you already have 3 to 4 inches. We measure your current depth during the free visit.

Utility rebates

If CPS Energy is your electric provider: it pays $0.35 per sq ft for contractor-installed attic insulation on projects completed Feb 1, 2026 to Jan 31, 2027. For attics with more than 24" of clearance, the existing level must be R-14 or less and the final level R-38 or more. GVEC’s rebate list covers heat pumps, EV chargers, thermostats and batteries, but not attic insulation. New Braunfels Utilities’ rebate list covers AC, heat pumps, thermostats, solar and water savings, but not attic insulation.

Federal tax credit

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) does not apply to insulation placed in service after December 31, 2025, so don’t plan your budget around it.

Questions

Attic insulation in Schertz: FAQ

My upstairs is always hotter than downstairs. Can insulation help?

In many homes, yes. Low or uneven attic insulation and air leaks are common causes of a hot second floor. An inspection shows what is happening in your attic.

Do you serve military families near Randolph?

Yes. We serve homes across Schertz and the surrounding communities. Call us to schedule a time that works for you.

Is the attic inspection really free?

Yes. We inspect the attic, show you photos of what we find and give you a written quote. There is no obligation to book.

Do you always remove the old insulation?

No. When the old insulation is contaminated, wet or badly compressed, we remove it, clean and sanitize the attic and seal air leaks first. If it is in good shape, we will tell you whether adding new insulation on top is enough.
