Old insulation removal
Compressed, wet or rodent-contaminated insulation is vacuumed out and hauled away.
Austin, TX attic insulation
TX Builder removes old, dirty insulation, cleans and seals your attic, and installs new insulation, so your AC works less and every room in your Austin home stays more comfortable.
Insulation for Austin homes
Austin has a wide range of homes, including older houses in central neighborhoods and newer homes in the suburbs around the city. Older homes often have very little insulation and many small air leaks, while newer homes may have insulation that has settled below a comfortable depth.
We start with a free inspection, measure the insulation and check for leaks, pests and contamination. Then we give you a written quote that explains what your home needs, from added insulation to full removal, cleaning and replacement.
Warning signs
Bedrooms and bonus rooms stay warm even with the AC running.
Your cooling costs keep climbing while the house never feels quite cool.
You can see the tops of the ceiling joists through the insulation.
Insulation that is compressed, patchy or pushed aside no longer does its job.
Tunnels, nests and droppings mean the insulation should be removed and replaced.
Wet or musty insulation loses its value and should be checked right away.

Local energy facts
Travis County is in IECC climate zone 2A. For zones 2 and 3, ENERGY STAR recommends R-49 for an uninsulated attic and R-38 when you already have 3 to 4 inches. We measure your current depth during the free visit.
If Austin Energy is your electric provider: its Home Energy Savings rebate is attic sq ft × $0.03 × R-value added, plus $45, when the attic reaches R-38. The home must be at least 10 years old, and the work must be done by an Austin Energy participating contractor. If Oncor delivers your electricity: its 2026 Home Energy Efficiency program pays an incentive for bringing attic insulation to R-38 in homes with central AC or heat. It is paid through an enrolled service provider, and reports are accepted until Dec 4, 2026 or until funds run out.
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) does not apply to insulation placed in service after December 31, 2025, so don’t plan your budget around it.
