Insulation for Alamo Heights homes

Why Alamo Heights attics need attention.

Many homes in Alamo Heights date back to the early and mid twentieth century. Older homes often have little insulation, a mix of materials added over the years, and attic spaces that have collected decades of dust and debris.

We take our time in these attics. We remove old insulation where needed, clean and sanitize the space, seal the many small gaps typical of older construction and install new insulation, while protecting your floors, finishes and walkways.

  • Clear written quote before any work starts
  • Average attic customer saves 20% on energy bills

Recommended R-value

Utility rebates

If CPS Energy is your electric provider: it pays $0.35 per sq ft for contractor-installed attic insulation on projects completed Feb 1, 2026 to Jan 31, 2027. For attics with more than 24" of clearance, the existing level must be R-14 or less and the final level R-38 or more.

Federal tax credit

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) does not apply to insulation placed in service after December 31, 2025, so don’t plan your budget around it.

Questions

Attic insulation in Alamo Heights: FAQ

Can you work in an older home without damaging the finishes?

Yes. We protect floors and walkways, and old insulation is vacuumed out through hoses rather than carried through the house.

My older home has a small attic access. Is that a problem?

Small or awkward access is common in older homes. We check it during the inspection and plan the work around it.

Is the attic inspection really free?

Yes. We inspect the attic, show you photos of what we find and give you a written quote. There is no obligation to book.

Do you always remove the old insulation?

No. When the old insulation is contaminated, wet or badly compressed, we remove it, clean and sanitize the attic and seal air leaks first. If it is in good shape, we will tell you whether adding new insulation on top is enough.
